These policies are only for Windows desktop machines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Considerations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The JumpCloud agent can control:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Automatic installation of minor updates that&nbsp;<strong><em>do not require a reboot<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automatic installation of updates during an&nbsp;automatic maintenance window&nbsp;(if this option is chosen).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The JumpCloud agent cannot control:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which updates are being pushed outside of the checkboxes, making the distinction between &#8220;minor&#8221; and &#8220;standard&#8221; Microsoft updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a Configure Windows Updates policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To create a Configure Windows Updates policy:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/login\/admin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card important\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/important-icon.png\"\/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Important:<\/strong> \n<p>If your data is stored outside of the US, check which login URL you should be using depending on your region. If your organization uses LDAP, RADIUS, or requires firewall allow list configuration, the Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDNs) will also be region specific. See <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/jumpcloud-data-centers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Data Centers<\/a> for the URLs, FQDNs, and IP addresses.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to\u00a0<strong>Device Management <\/strong>&gt;\u00a0<strong>Policy Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>(+)<\/strong>&nbsp;and select the<strong>&nbsp;Windows<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the&nbsp;<strong>Configure Windows Updates <\/strong>policy and&nbsp;click&nbsp;<strong>configure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) In the <strong>Policy Name<\/strong> field, enter a new name for the policy or keep the default. Policy names must be unique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) In the&nbsp;<strong>Policy Notes<\/strong> field, enter details like when you created the policy, where you tested it, and where you deployed it.<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2434\" height=\"2582\" class=\"wp-image-87823\" style=\"width: 1000px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Windows_ConfigureWindowsUpdates_policy.png\" alt=\"\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the&nbsp;<strong>Update Settings<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the <strong>Notifications Settings<\/strong> section. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>Windows 11 Business Edition Pro only displays priority notifications as toast notifications, therefore JumpCloud&#8217;s notifications do not display as toast notifications by default on Windows 11 devices.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"9\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the <strong>Deferral and Deadline Settings<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) Click the&nbsp;<strong>Device Groups<\/strong>&nbsp;tab and select one or more device groups that will use this policy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>For device groups with multiple OS member types, the policy is applied only to the supported OS.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"11\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>(Optional) Click&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Devices<\/strong>&nbsp;tab and select one or more devices that will use this policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For these policies to take effect, restart your device.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The JumpCloud agent can control the download and deployment of updates to Windows devices with the Configure Windows Updates policy.
