OOONO<\/a> is a consumer electronics company dedicated to creating a safe everyday life. They achieve this through devices like the CO-Driver series (for road safety), Sirene (for personal safety), and their upcoming initiative, Joule, which aims to be the world’s smallest and most affordable AED.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2017, OOONO has grown to a team of 140 employees who work primarily out of its Denmark headquarters, with a small team operating out of Germany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building foundational IT infrastructure for a startup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Joseph Cunningham joined OOONO in 2023 as the company\u2019s inaugural head of IT, the startup’s IT was disjointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was like you had to go to one side of the room if you wanted access to Microsoft and the other side if you needed a new computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cunningham had he opportunity to build up the entire IT infrastructure himself. As the first order of business, he began looking for a mobile device management<\/a> solution that would enable him to secure and manage their Mac (60%) and Windows (40%) environment while avoiding the cost and complexity of purchasing “10 different products”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Solution: JumpCloud as the “Swiss Army knife”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After evaluating multiple point solutions, including Kandji, Hexnode, Intune, and Rippling , Cunningham chose JumpCloud because it stood out as the only product that could provide secure, frictionless device and identity management solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was trying to figure out what was going to work with Windows and Apple, and I found a few options. JumpCloud was the only one that stood out as a good product. Plus, it had a lot of other features I could use as well, so we kind of hit the ground running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consolidating IT management tools & setting up for scale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

JumpCloud has enabled OOONO to scale rapidly to a team of 140 and makes it easy for Cunningham to protect company devices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, if someone loses their computer, I can remotely wipe it. I also installed policies so that screens lock after five minutes of not doing anything. We have a VPN, we have antivirus, we have a service desk, and we install a program on all of the clients that will report back geolocation of each device and tell me whether the drives are encrypted and how much storage is available. We also have Patch Management<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process to set up a new computer with all software and access now takes only about 20 minutes. With JumpCloud being connected to OOONO’s HR system, the company has achieved a “pretty much seamless off-boarding and onboarding now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, Cunningham envisions a future where \u201cJumpCloud manages everything\u201d for him and he\u2019s able to spend most of his time focusing on higher-level IT projects. As he works toward that goal, Cunningham continues to leverage more and more of the JumpCloud platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Switch from 1Password to JumpCloud Password Manager<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

OOONO\u2019s developer team routinely tests their mobile app across a wide range of devices, meaning they have \u201cevery kind of phone you can think of.\u201d To ensure these test devices and the sensitive company IP on them are protected, Cunningham turned to JumpCloud’s Password Manager<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He enrolled all the mobile phones and stored their passwords within the new JumpCloud Password Manager, a step critical for basic asset protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enlisting the help of Professional Services to reduce costs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cunningham leveraged JumpCloud Professional Services<\/strong> to optimize the platform, avoiding the time and expense of hiring and training outside consultants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve actually gone out and looked to hire consultants, but no one is an expert in JumpCloud, so I would have to spend a lot of time training them up on the platform, and it\u2019s just kind of wasting money,\u201d Cunningham explains. \u201cI know with Professional Services, I can say, \u2018This is the problem I\u2019ve got,\u2019 and then 10 minutes later it\u2019s fixed or they\u2019re going to look into it for me and give me a relevant answer.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cunningham\u2019s ultimate ambition is to have a small, dedicated IT team that focuses on security and interesting projects, not repetitive, routine tasks and JumpCloud is helping him solve that ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
